There we are then, possibly trapped into searching for shapes to position, and using terms such as stability, dynamics and movement.

Any formula is far too simplistic and photography-by-numbers is not much fun. The last thing that runs through most peoples' mind when taking a shot is mathematics!

However, all things being equal, good composition will make any shot better. Don't ignore composition - it matters, it works.

Composition is the difference between the professional and amateur

DO
  • keep it simple
  • always shoot upwards
  • move in close
DON'T
  • stick it in the middle
  • look down on a subject

Remember: Rules are made to be broken
