Capture :: Manage :: Fix :: Backup :: Share

Digital workflow is the term to describe the process from taking your digital images, downloading them onto a computer and color managing them, through to printing and archiving them. This suggests some discipline in handling your image files, not just concentrating on one step e.g. retouching in Photoshop. In short, just Good Housekeeping!

Problems to avoid Beware! Computers are addictive. Your brain waves settle into some kind of soporific state akin to a couple of Vodkas! PhotoshopThe brand leader in digtal image manipulation program produced by Adobe Software. You Hoover the floor Google the Net and Photoshop your images! When we use Photoshop we mean any such program. (and other image manipulation programs) are the ultimate time tunnel. You start work, look up at the clock, and see hours have passed!

Don’t lose sight of the time you put into post-production. Be sure it is justified in terms of the return you get. Don’t do it just because you can.

Be aware of the time/benefits payback. So many alleged ‘pros’ recommend an approach to managing digital images which is unreasonable for the average user to adopt. Photography is fun, not hard work!
