Underwater Digital Imaging

U/W Photo Course

Learn u/w photography the easy way!

Once-upon-a-time photographers took pictures. They dropped off their film down at the processors and were able to see their results only some time later.

The emphasis was on the photography. Much of the photographic process was hidden, delegated to professionals with expensive equipment.

Nowadays, digital imaging delivers unprecedented control over ‘post production’ – if you have the time and inclination.

let’s differentiate between digital photography and digital imaging...

  • Digital Photography – the taking of pictures on a digital camera (as distinct from post shooting manipulation)
  • Digital Imaging – available to all picture producers regardless of original format (provided you transfer to digital format) e.g. scanning 35mm slides.

geat advice! Digital Imaging involves both image manipulation and housekeeping (naming, translating file types, captioning with copyright information, cataloguing, and backing-up). This is usually called Workflow.
