There are still photographic opportunities to be had during surface intervals. Over/undershots that cross the surface boundary i.e the camera lens is half-in and half-out of the water showing subjects above and below shots, under/overshots that are taken underwater but also have a subject that can be seen through the surface (in Snells window) shots, and surface reflection pictures can all be achieved without scubaSelf Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus (as opposed to diving equipment supplied with air from the surface)..
