Even the World’s greatest photographer (who ever she is!), using the best camera
money can buy, makes mistakes!
Adjustments are corrections to an image’s basic parameters e.g. brightness,
tone, contrast. Usually it is a correction to a whole image, though may be applied
selectively to just an area within the image.
An adjustment does not involve 'the clever stuff', it’s not very sexy at all.
In fact, if executed correctly, it is not even noticeable. It should be a secret
between the photographer and Photoshop!
You will spend more time adjusting images than you ever will do executing the more dramatic
editing that Photoshop is famous for.
