How To (Reference by Task)

1.Capturing Video

Use DVgate Motion.
  1. Connect the DV device to your computer using an i.LINK cable.
Please refer to your computer's manual for instructions.
  2. Launch DVgate Motion.
  3. Create an IN/OUT list with information on all the IN and OUT points of the video sequences you want to capture.
DVgate Motion can also automatically scan the source tape for recording start and end points (break points between each recording session) to create an IN/OUT list.
You can later make changes to the IN/OUT list.

  4. Capture the images.
You can capture all the video sequences indicated by their IN and OUT points on the IN/OUT list, or specify only those sequences that you want to capture. You can also capture video without an IN/OUT list by manually specifying the capture start and end points while viewing a playback of the source tape.
Captured video is automatically saved as a file on the hard disk in the format that you specify.

2.Capturing Video Images as Still Images

Use DVgate Still.
  1. Connect the DV device to your computer using an i.LINK cable.
Please refer to your computer's manual for instructions.

Step-by-step instructions for using DVgate Assemble are given here.
  1. Launch DVgate Assemble.
  2. Arrange in order the video files that you want to splice together.
  3. Insert still image files, if necessary.
  4. Edit the individual clips for the exact scenes you want before splicing them together.
You can also do so before arranging the clips in order.
  5. Preview the result of splicing the files together.
  6. Save the spliced video sequences as one file.
*You can add titles and other special effects at splice points by using other video editing software that are not part of DVgate, such as Adobe Premiere.
